Primošten: A Timeless Blend of Heritage and the Sea

Primošten’s story dates back to ancient Illyrian and Greek times. In the 11th and 12th centuries, Bogomil families fleeing the Ottomans settled inland before relocating to a nearby islet in the 15th century. There, they built a fortified village, later named Primošten — from the word meaning “to bridge,” referencing the wooden bridge that once connected it to the mainland.

From a place of refuge, Primošten grew into a charming coastal town. Locals cultivated vineyards on rocky hillsides, producing the celebrated Babić wine. Today, Primošten blends history, nature, and refined tranquility — a perfect destination for those seeking Mediterranean authenticity with a touch of luxury.
